Main road (E.N.1) reopened (for now).

Radio Mocambique www.rm.co.mz reports EN.1 open again, BUT...
This just off Radio de Mocambique: (translated from Portuguese by me so can't swear by it)
After three days of interruption, vehicles started moving across the repaired break in the E.N1 at 3 de Fevereiro, this morning (24 Jan). Hundreds of vehicles have already been able to continue with their journeys. 39 trucks dumped three thousand cubic metres of rock to create a temporary causeway that will have to eventually be replaced with a proper viaduct.
And here is the "BUT" bit:

Radio Mocambique has also been informed that the EN.1 is in danger of being cut in the region of Manhica, a few kilometres after the first breach. ANE (Agencia Nacional das Estradas) repair teams have already been sent to reinforce the threatened stretch of road, but it is feared that if the present heavy rains continue, the EN.1 could be cut again.
So, I think this certainly confirms that the EN.1 is again open, but obviously this may be a temporary situation, especially as Funso is highly likely to dump at least some (perhaps a lot) rain in the area within a few days.
Also don't forget that the NORMAL rainy season in this area of Moz usually continues to April and it appears that even this rain could cause damage to the E.N.1 in future.
